ERASMUS PROJECTS

Environmental Education Programme

The aim of the project was to create a complete course of environmental education, which could be easily introduced into individual school systems and which could make available to individual schools, even those other than those participating in the project, ready-made and easily accessible programs, materials and teaching resources.

The project was conceived to develop the theme of Environmental Education in an organic way, through the sharing of ideas and resources of a selected group of schools, the creation of synergies and the training of a significant group of qualified teachers, who work in a team with an international perspective.

The project was developed in network with Escola Secundária José Saramago (Mafra - Portugal), Colegio Santo Domingo Savio (Ubeda - Spain), Colegiul National "Octavian Goga" (Sibiu - Portugal), IFOA Reggio Emilia and Emphasys (Interactive Solutions) .

STAIRS aims to combine the STEM teaching approach (both teaching coding through the creation of an air quality monitoring system using ARDUINO, environmental sensors for measuring indoor and outdoor air quality, and traditional experiments that do not require coding skills.

Students, teachers and parents will learn that if the air in schools is polluted or contaminated, their learning, health and long-term development could be negatively affected (due to asthma, allergies, airborne bacteria and viruses that cause diseases such as influenza and COVID-19).

A common European reference framework for health and sustainability - vision or necessary reality?

Four delegations of students and teachers from different European countries animated the IESS students’ week, allowing the first part of the project “A Common European Framework of Reference for Health and Sustainability” to be developed, finally in person.

The transnational initiative is part of the Erasmus programme, the EU-branded student mobility for education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

The project saw students involved in initiatives related to food sustainability, from guided tours of the territory to educational activities in the classroom. The use of new technologies allowed them to interact in a dynamic and lively way, weaving new friendships and implementing the use of the English language.
